About me

Hello! My name is Rishab Manocha, a '97-millennial from Punjab, India. My journey with computers began the first time I used one, and I’ve been in love with them ever since. Even before I fully understood what it meant to be a computer engineer, I knew that’s what I wanted to be. My passion for programming started in my early years, where I dabbled in QBasic to create simple CLI apps, built basic HTML websites, and learned a bit of coding while waiting for my study visa after high school.
My real growth in programming began when I moved to Canada for my undergraduate studies. It was during my first year that my preparation met opportunity. I secured an internship as a software developer at SAP, which was a pivotal moment in my career. At SAP, my skills evolved from basic coding to developing high-quality, enterprise-level applications. This experience set the stage for my journey in the tech world, leading me to work at some of the biggest tech companies and startups, including SAP, AWS (Amazon), Shopify, Deliverr, and Flexport.
My Passion for Building
For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to build something meaningful on the side. While I’ve had some success in setting up a homelab filled with apps that my family and I use, there’s always been an unfulfilled desire to create something of real value—something that strangers would find useful and maybe even pay for.
I’ve always wanted to be so much more—an entrepreneur, a SaaS founder, an open-source contributor, a YouTuber. The sheer number of aspirations I’ve held has sometimes paralyzed me, making it hard to pursue anything at all. But after six years of working in the industry, I’m done standing on the sidelines. I’ve decided it’s time to stop being a perfectionist and start contributing towards achieving each of those dreams.
What’s Next?
I’ve come to terms with the fact that nobody might read this—not a single soul—and that realization has given me the courage to move forward without overthinking. I’m excited to share my journey, including my homelab setup, my startup ideas, and my build-in-public experiences.
